Who is Nakala Maddock?
Nutrisoil director Nakala Maddock joined the NutriSoil team in 2013 alongside her husband Darren whose parents founded the business in 1995. NutriSoil has been a perfect fit for Nakala as it has allowed her to bring her passion and skill sets together to help the business continue its growth in production and the number of farmers it supports.
Nakala who has completed a degree in Business Management is thriving in her role of managing the family-owned business as it implements its strategy to empower farmers to grow life-enriching food. As a mother of two Nakala is passionate about human health, she understands the connection between growing nutrient-dense food, soil health, and the flow of human health. Nakala has supplemented her business degree with further study of a Graduate Diploma in Vocational Education as well as Sustainable Agriculture where she focused most of her studies on Vermiculture.
This places her in good stead to provide reassurance and guidance as she helps farmers transition to a low synthetic input system. Coming from a rural community Nakala understands the pressures of farming and a favorite part of her job is supporting farmers to ensure they are profitable in their journey to regenerative agriculture.

The Symbiosis of Soil and Society
In a compelling new episode of “Secrets of the Soil,” Regen Ray Milidoni delves beneath the surface with Nakala Maddock to unearth the fundamental importance of soil quality in our quest for health and environmental sustainability. As Maddock points out, a vibrant, complex soil ecosystem is more than Earth’s canvas—it’s the living bedrock of agriculture where the seeds of human health are sown.
The Regenerative Agriculture Revolution
Beyond Sustainability — Thriving Ecosystems
Maddock champions regenerative agriculture—a holistic approach reverberating through farming communities. While traditional methods have relied heavily on chemical inputs, regenerative practices focus on restoring soil biology through natural processes. By integrating methods such as worm-powered composting systems, farmers foster a robust soil biodiversity, which in turn generates potent natural pesticides and fungicides.
This surge in organic processes optimizes plant nutrition and drastically reduces dependencies on artificial substitutes, mirroring the Nutrisoil philosophy.
From Consumers to Producers — A Paradigm Shift
“Secrets of the Soil” isn’t just for farmers; it’s a rallying cry for consumers too. The host and guest advocate for a transformative shift in mindset – from passive consumption to proactive production. By understanding our food’s roots, we better grasp the inherent value of sound farming practices and organically grown produce. The podcast is a beacon, illuminating how each of us can incite change, supporting businesses that prioritize soil health, like those partnered with Solconnect.
Supporting Soil Supports Us
The Nutrient Network — Worms to the Rescue
Harnessing the humble worm, Nutrisoil’s vermi wash system exemplifies innovation, capturing microbial magic for the benefit of crops everywhere. Maddock illustrates how amino acids and beneficial microbes foster amino acids, bolstering plant defense and nutrition. The worm’s transformative work reinforces the notion that a strong foundation yields the healthiest growth—both in plants and people.
Tailored Solutions for Diverse Ecosystems
One size does not fit all in farming. In our conversation, we highlight the diversity of agricultural needs. Some lands boast well-balanced biomes, while others are still transitioning or need additional care. Nutrisol has emerged as a versatile aid, adaptable to various conditions and instrumental in cutting back harmful chemicals.
The Nutritional Nexus
Farming Systems as Wellness Wellsprings
Maddock opens up about her personal evolution from sugar-fueled diets to a life steeped in the rhythms of regenerative farming. It’s a testament to the inextricable link between soil health and our well-being. The importance of such a link cannot be understated; soil devoid of life can lead to food devoid of nutrition. Conversely, rich soil begets nutrient-dense produce, which fosters vitality in those who consume it.
Tailored Solutions for Diverse Ecosystems
Maddock and Milidoni spotlight a farmer from Western Australia whose regenerative journey has culminated in a thriving connection to the land and healthy, resilient crops. This success story serves as a beacon of possibility, beckoning consumers to ponder the true cost of their food. When we opt to pay more for sustainably grown fare, we invest not only in our immediate nutritional needs but also in a food system that sustains our planet’s health.
Rooted in Understanding — Growing a Healthier Tomorrow
As “Secrets of the Soil” Episode 2 winds down, Maddock and Milidoni distill their discourse into a poignant takeaway: embracing complexity in our ecosystems mirrors the nurturing of complexity within ourselves. It’s a reflection of a holistic view, one where understanding individual farm visions is just as critical as implementing regenerative practices. Forward-thinking businesses like Soul Connect reinforce this mindset by aligning with soil-caring initiatives.
The DNA of soil regeneration lies in patience and perseverance, with the understanding that results blossom over time. As Maddock emphasizes, planting seeds for the future means fostering a regenerative system to yield not just crops, but a constellation of benefits summed up best as the organic blueprint for a nourishing, robust life. Join us in cultivating a legacy of health, for the soil, the soul, and society at large.
